Why the IGF Code?
The International Code of Safety for Ships Using Gases or Other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code) provides an international standard for ships operating with gas or low-flashpoint liquids as fuel. The IGF Code aims to minimize risks to the ship, its crew, and the environment by setting mandatory criteria for the arrangement and installation of machinery, equipment, and systems. This ensures a high level of safety, reliability, and dependability for vessels using these fuels.
Our comprehensive suite offers Basic, Advanced, and Sea Time Reduction courses, real-life bunkering exercises, and cutting-edge practical training. Designed to meet the highest safety standards, our training ensures that seafarers are fully equipped to handle the unique challenges of alternative fuels, enhancing safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability at sea.

Sea Time Reduction Simulation-based Offering
The IGF Code Sea Time Reduction course allows seafarers to reduce the required sea time for the Advanced IGF CoP by simulating real-life scenarios and operations. Accredited by the Bahamas Maritime Authority, the 5-day IGF Code Sea Time Reduction training corresponds to 30 days of seagoing experience. This intensive training includes practical exercises such as bunkering operations, which are essential for obtaining the IGF Code Advanced certificate.
By completing the full package, seafarers not only meet the mandatory training requirements but also gain valuable hands-on experience, enhancing their competence and safety in handling low-flashpoint fuels. It is important to note that for the equivalency to be valid, learners will have to take the full package with Maersk Training (IGF Basic, IGF Advanced, IGF Sea Time Reduction), as the equivalency is based on the full learning journey.

IGF Code Learning Journey
The IGF Code Learning Journey with Maersk Training provides a structured pathway for seafarers to develop the knowledge and skills required to operate vessels compliant with the IGF Code. This guide outlines the step-by-step progression, including essential prerequisites, hands-on simulation courses, and real-life bunkering experience. It also highlights fuel-specific training to complement the core learning.
With accreditation from the Danish Maritime Authority for IGF Basic and Advanced courses, this ensures that seafarers are well-prepared to navigate the challenges of alternative fuels safely and efficiently.
