Training in action: real-life emergency response scenarios
Here’s how GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) prepares wind energy teams for critical incidents:
-
Responding to a Fire on a Wind Turbine
During routine maintenance, a fire broke out on an offshore turbine. Thanks to their BST training, the team quickly initiated fire response protocols, evacuated the area, used fire extinguishers, and contained the fire before it could spread. -
Rescuing a Colleague After a Fall
When a technician fell from a height, a colleague applied the working-at-heights rescue techniques from the BST course, safely lowering him to the ground for medical care.
These examples highlight how BST training equips teams to handle emergencies effectively, ensuring safety in high-risk situations.
