Purpose of STCW A-VI/2-2 Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats Refresher

Essential Information

Prerequisites:

Participants must hold a valid STCW A-VI/2-2 certificate, confirming previous training in FRB proficiency.

Who is it for?

This course is aimed at seafarers and offshore personnel who are responsible for FRB operations and require certification renewal.

Assessment:

Competency is assessed through practical exercises and theoretical evaluations, ensuring compliance with STCW standards.

Certification:

Upon successful completion, participants receive a renewed STCW A-VI/2-2 Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats certificate, valid for five years for seafarers and four years for offshore personnel.

Course content

FRB Theory and Construction:

Understanding the design, construction, and equipment of fast rescue boats, including key safety features.

Launching and Recovery Procedures:

Practising safe launching and recovery of FRBs, including handling in rough seas and emergencies.

FRB Handling and Navigation Skills:

Techniques for operating FRBs in various sea and weather conditions, including navigating with and without GPS.

Emergency Equipment and First Aid:

Using emergency equipment onboard the FRB and applying basic first aid to casualties.

Communication and Signalling Equipment Use:

Training in the use of radios, pyrotechnics, and other signalling devices to coordinate search and rescue efforts.

Search Patterns and Rescue Techniques:

Performing search patterns and accounting for environmental factors, ensuring efficient and effective rescue operations.
