Purpose of STCW A-VI/2-1 & A-VI/2-2 Refresher
This combined refresher course is designed to update and maintain the competencies of personnel responsible for operating survival crafts and fast rescue boats. Meeting the standards set by the STCW Convention Chapter VI, Sections A-VI/2-1 and A-VI/2-2, this course reinforces essential skills in survival craft and rescue boat operations, emergency procedures, and safety protocols. Essential Information

Prerequisites:
Participants must hold valid STCW A-VI/2-1 and A-VI/2-2 certificates.

Who is it for?
This course is designed for seafarers and offshore personnel assigned to manage and operate survival craft and fast rescue boats.

Assessment:
Competency is assessed through practical exercises and a theoretical evaluation covering survival craft and fast rescue boat operations.

Certification:
Upon successful completion, participants receive STCW refresher certificates valid for five years for seafarers and four years for offshore personnel, issued by the Danish Maritime Authority.
Course content
Survival Craft and Fast Rescue Boat Theory:
Understanding the construction, outfit, and equipment of survival crafts and fast rescue boats, along with maintenance procedures.
Launching and Recovery Techniques:
Practical exercises in launching and recovering survival and fast rescue boats, including emergency procedures.
Boat Handling and Manoeuvring in Adverse Conditions:
Techniques for operating survival crafts and rescue boats under challenging weather and sea conditions.
First Aid and Emergency Procedures:
Applying first aid to survivors, managing injuries, and using onboard emergency equipment effectively.
Pyrotechnic Distress Signals and Communication Equipment:
Hands-on use of distress signals, including pyrotechnics, and operation of communication devices.
Righting and Capsize Recovery for Liferafts and FRBs:
Techniques for righting inverted liferafts and understanding capsize recovery procedures for fast rescue boats.
