Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR) (STCW A-VI/1-4) - Norwegian
Purpose
Seafarers and industrial personnel (IP). Industrial personnel are classed as those who are transported or accommodated on board for the purpose of offshore industrial activities performed on board other ships and/or offshore facilities, such as wind turbines.
Assessment
There is a final end of course assessment with an 80% pass mark.
Content
The purpose of this e-learning course is to provide personnel the required level of knowledge to meet the mandatory Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities requirements identified in STCW Code A-VI/1-4. The course comprises 5 modules and an end of course assessment:
- Follow Emergency Procedures
- Maritime Pollution
- Follow Safe Work Routines
- Communication Theories
- The Human Factor ### Objectives
The following learning objectives are mapped to the STCW A-VI/1-4 criteria:
1.Follow Emergency Procedures LO1: Describe the types of emergencies that may occur. LO2: Explain the ship’s emergency plans to be implemented in emergencies. LO3: Identify the crew's duties and responsibilities during an emergency. LO4: Describe the measures to prevent, or minimise the consequences of, an emergency LO5: Explain how to respond to an alarm signal. LO6: Explain the importance of training and exercises. LO7: Identify escape routes on board and recognise internal communications and alarm systems.
2.Maritime Pollution LO8: Explain the main sources of pollution caused by human activity. LO9: Explain the effects of marine pollution. LO10: Describe the contents of MARPOL LO11: Explain the purpose of the SOPEP. LO12: Explain the MARPOL requirements in relation to garbage. LO13: Explain the MARPOL requirements in relation to waste. LO14: Explain the requirements for the control of waste from the engine room and oil tanks. LO15: Describe the requirements associated with the Oil Record Book. LO16: Describe the MARPOL requirements associated with ‘special areas’. LO17: Explain the requirements of Annex VI of MARPOL.
3: Follow Safe Work Routines LO18: Describe the safe work routines during all operations on board. LO19: Identify the safety and protective devices for protection against potential dangers on board. LO20: Describe the different types of protective equipment for entering closed spaces. LO21: Identify the international measures aimed at preventing accidents.
4: Communication Theories LO22: Explain the importance of communication in relation to safety and preventing pollution. LO23: Describe the methods of communication. LO24: Explain the barriers in communication. LO25: Identify examples of good communication. LO26: Explain the importance of active listening. LO27: Describe the consequences of poor communication. LO28: Identify the advantages of good communication.
5: The Human Factor LO29: Explain the importance of maintaining good human relations and a good working community on board. LO30: Explain the importance of caring for people and having a good working environment on board. LO31: Describe the rules on the use of alcohol and drugs. LO32: Describe fatigue and the effects and consequences of fatigue. LO33: Explain the ILO requirements related to rest time. LO34: Describe management on land and on board. LO35: Identify the different factors which can affect rest and rest time
