Purpose of Offshore Fast Rescue Boat Coxswain
The Offshore Fast Rescue Boat Coxswain course equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge to operate and take charge of fast rescue boats safely and efficiently in offshore environments. Designed in alignment with STCW Code A-VI/2-2 standards, this course prepares individuals to respond effectively in emergency situations, ensuring the safety of crew members and meeting regulatory requirements. Essential Information

Prerequisites:
Participants must be at least 18 years old, medically fit, and hold a valid offshore medical certificate. A self-declaration of fitness may also be required.

Who is it for?
This course is intended for personnel on offshore installations assigned to operate or manage fast rescue boats.

Assessment:
Participants are assessed through direct observation in practical exercises, as well as through theoretical examinations to verify competence.

Certification:
Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate valid for four years, in line with STCW requirements.
Course content
Construction and Maintenance of Fast Rescue Boats:
Understanding the construction, outfitting, and maintenance of fast rescue boats, including buoyancy compartments and safety equipment.
Launching and Recovery Procedures:
Practising safe launching and recovery techniques in varying weather conditions, including the use of winches, brakes, and painters.
Operation and Navigation in Adverse Conditions:
Handling the fast rescue boat effectively in challenging sea and weather conditions, ensuring safety and stability.
Casualty Recovery and First Aid:
Conducting casualty recovery from water, administering first aid, and transferring casualties safely to a helicopter or vessel.
Capsize Procedures and Emergency Response:
Learning to right a capsized rescue boat and execute emergency protocols to manage unexpected incidents.
Communication and Signalling:
Using VHF radio and other signalling devices to communicate with support teams, ensuring coordination during rescue operations.
