Purpose of MT Offshore Crane Stage 2

Essential Information

01

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of Stage 1 Offshore Crane Operator training within the last 12 months, with verifiable practical experience (e.g., onshore crane certification or documented mentored experience). Candidates must also provide a recent medical and eye test confirming depth perception and colour vision.

02

Who is it for?

  • This course is designed for individuals who have completed Stage 1 training and wish to advance their skills for offshore crane operations. It is suitable for crane operators seeking to deepen their technical expertise and work towards unsupervised offshore operations.

03

Assessment:

  • Delegates will undergo a mix of theoretical tests and practical evaluations, including open-book exams with multiple-choice, true/false, and written answer questions. Practical assessment will be conducted using a simulator, focusing on operational skills, safety responses, and understanding of crane malfunctions.

04

Certification:

Upon successful completion, delegates receive a Stage 2 Offshore Crane Operator certificate, valid for two years. This certification qualifies them to perform supervised offshore lifts and to continue with mentored offshore training, eventually leading to unsupervised deck-to-deck lifting capabilities.
