Prerequisites

No prior certification is required but a basic understanding of drilling operations is expected.

Who is it for?

This course is ideal for:

  • New or entry-level personnel in the drilling industry, including floorhands, derrickmen, and others starting their careers.
  • Rig crew members who need to understand the basics of well control as part of their job responsibilities.

Assessment

Obtain sufficient knowledge to pass a written IADC WellSharp test with minimum 70% score.

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive the IADC WellSharp Introductory Level certificate valid for five years.

The course covers the following key areas:

Introduction to Well Control

Basic concepts of well control, including pressure fundamentals, kick detection, and initial responses.

Primary Well Control Equipment

Overview of key well control equipment, such as blowout preventers (BOPs) and choke manifolds, and their basic functions.
