Purpose of IADC WellSharp Driller Level with Workover

Essential information

Prerequisites

Participants must hold a valid IADC WellSharp Introductory or equivalent certification and have prior experience in drilling or workover operations. Prerequisites should meet IADC accreditation requirements.

Who is it for?

This course is intended for drillers, assistant drillers, and personnel involved in well control operations during drilling and workover.

Assessment

Participants must pass a written and practical assessment with a minimum score of 75% to obtain well control certification. Practical assessment will be completed during week on simulators, theory exam will be completed on last day our course through a online IADC testing database.

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants receive an IADC Virtual WellSharp Driller Level with Workover certificate, valid for two years. Certification aligns with IADC standards and is recognised internationally across the drilling and well control industries.

This course covers a comprehensive range of well control topics, divided into critical modules that address both drilling and workover control:

Well control fundamentals

Introduction to well control, understanding wellbore pressure, and key principles.

Barriers and risk management

Learning about physical and procedural barriers, and effective risk management in well operations.

Kick detection and response

Identifying causes of kicks, recognising early warning signs, and implementing kick response procedures.

Shut-in procedures and kill sheets

Step-by-step methods for shutting in a well safely and understanding the use of kill sheets in pressure control.

Well control methods and kill techniques

Techniques for controlling well pressure, including various well kill methods applied during drilling and workover.

Bop and well control equipment

Familiarisation with Blowout Preventer (BOP) systems, BOP control systems, and associated well control equipment.

Workover and completion operations

Essential skills for maintaining well control during workover and completion phases, including snubbing and pulling operations.

Managed pressure drilling (MPD)

Overview of MPD techniques and equipment used in maintaining control during complex drilling operations.
