Purpose of GWO Offshore Limited Access (OFL) Training

Essential Information

Prerequisites:

No prior offshore wind experience required; however, participants should be physically fit, adhering to the bodyweight limit of 125kg.

Who is it for?

Ideal for personnel who will visit WTGs occasionally(max 6 visits per year) and need training to safely navigate and respond to emergencies in offshore environments.

Assessment:

Participants are evaluated through practical exercises and discussions, ensuring competency in offshore safety protocols.

Certification:

Upon successful completion, participants receive a GWO Offshore Limited Access certificate, valid for two years.

Course content

Introduction to Offshore Safety:

Overview of safety protocols, emergency procedures, and human factors influencing safety in offshore environments.

Hazard Awareness in Offshore WTGs:

Identifying and mitigating risks such as electrical hazards, slippery surfaces, and environmental factors.

Fire Awareness and Emergency Preparedness:

Understanding fire contingency plans and the correct use of escape equipment in offshore settings.

Safe Transfers and Travel Procedures:

Techniques and protocols for safe transfer between crew transfer vessels (CTVs) and WTGs, including the use of self-retractable lifelines (SRLs) and twin fall arrest lanyards.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Sea Survival Gear:

Correct donning and use of PPE and life-saving appliances (LSA), including immersion suits and life vests.

Controlled Evacuation and Sea Survival Techniques:

Methods for safe evacuation from WTGs, as well as survival techniques in water, including individual and collective swimming postures to minimise hypothermia risks.
