Purpose of GWO First Aid Refresher – Blended Learning

Essential Information

Prerequisites:

Participants must hold a valid, in-date GWO First Aid certificate and be registered on the Global Wind Industry Training Records Database (WINDA) before attending.

Who is it for?

This refresher course is for individuals working in the wind industry who need to renew their GWO First Aid certification.

Assessment:

Participants will be assessed through practical exercises and theoretical evaluations to demonstrate continued competence in first aid.

Certification:

Upon successful completion, participants receive a GWO-approved First Aid Refresher certificate, valid for two years.

Course content

Online Refresher Modules:

Review of first aid theory, covering topics like legislation, emergency protocols, and the body’s response to injury and illness.

Primary Survey and CPR Refresher:

Renewing skills in the Primary Survey "C"-A-B-C method (Circulation, Airway, Breathing, Circulation) and practising CPR with AED application.

Secondary Survey and Injury Assessment:

Conducting the secondary survey to identify and manage additional injuries, prioritising patient care.

Renewed First Aid Techniques for Common Injuries:

Practical training on managing injuries like cuts, burns, fractures, and addressing sudden illnesses like shock.

Managing Unconscious Casualties:

Reinforcing techniques for airway maintenance and positioning unconscious casualties in recovery positions.

Scenario-Based Emergency Response Practice:

Engaging in simulated emergency scenarios to refresh first aid skills in realistic settings within a wind turbine environment.

    Upon successfully completing the course and passing the assessments, you'll receive your official certification from Maersk Training or the relevant accreditation body.
