Purpose of GWO First Aid – Blended Learning

Essential Information

Prerequisites:

Participants must be registered on the Global Wind Industry Training Records Database (WINDA) prior to attending the course.

Who is it for?

This course is intended for personnel working in the wind industry or related fields who require first aid training tailored to the wind turbine environment.

Assessment:

Participants will be evaluated through practical exercises and theoretical assessments to demonstrate competence in first aid procedures.

Certification:

Upon successful completion, participants receive a GWO-approved First Aid certificate, valid for two years.

Course Content

Theoretical E-Learning Modules:

Completion of online modules covering essential first aid theory, including legislation, emergency protocols, and an overview of the human body's response to injury.

Primary Survey and CPR Techniques:

Hands-on practice in conducting a primary survey using the C-A-B-C method (Circulation, Airway, Breathing, Circulation) and performing CPR, including the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Secondary Survey and Assessment Skills:

Conducting a secondary survey to identify further injuries or illnesses, prioritising patient care in an emergency.

First Aid for Common Injuries and Illnesses:

Practical instruction on handling typical injuries, including fractures, cuts, burns, and response to sudden illnesses like shock or stroke.

Handling Unconscious Casualties:

Techniques for managing an unconscious casualty, including airway maintenance and recovery position to ensure ongoing safety.

Emergency Response and Scenario Practice:

Participating in realistic, scenario-based exercises to apply first aid skills effectively in a wind turbine environment.
