Purpose of GWO Fire Awareness – Blended Learning

Participants must be registered on the Global Wind Industry Training Records Database (WINDA) prior to attending the course.

Who is it for?

This course is intended for personnel working in the wind industry or related fields who require fire awareness training tailored to the wind turbine environment.

Assessment:

Participants will be evaluated through practical exercises and theoretical assessments to demonstrate competence in fire awareness and response procedures.

Certification:

Upon successful completion, participants receive a GWO-approved Fire Awareness certificate, valid for two years.

Course content

Theoretical E-Learning Modules:

Completion of online modules covering essential fire awareness theory, including fire development, causes, and safety protocols.

Identifying Fire Hazards:

Learning to recognise common fire hazards within wind turbines and their environments, focusing on preventive measures.

Understanding Fire Development and Spread:

Gaining insights into how fires develop and spread, with a focus on wind turbine-specific risks.

Firefighting Equipment Use:

Practicing the correct operation of firefighting equipment, including extinguishers, to safely manage small fires.

Evacuation Procedures:

Developing skills to carry out effective and safe evacuations during fire incidents, ensuring all safety protocols are observed.

Scenario-Based Emergency Response Practice:

Engaging in realistic, scenario-based exercises to apply fire safety and emergency response skills within a wind turbine environment.
