Purpose of Freefall Survival Craft Add-on

Essential Information

Prerequisites:

  • Maritime Personnel: Minimum age 18, a valid STCW A-VI/2-1 certificate (Proficiency in survival crafts and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats), and a valid Health Certificate for Seafarers.
  • Offshore Personnel: Minimum age 18, a valid Offshore Lifeboat certificate or STCW A-VI/2-1 certificate, and medical fitness verified by self-declaration.

Who is it for?

This course is designed for maritime and offshore personnel responsible for Freefall Lifeboat operations in emergency scenarios.

Assessment:

Participants are evaluated through practical exercises in a Freefall Lifeboat simulator, demonstrating competency in lifeboat operation and emergency management.

Certification:

Upon successful completion, Maersk Training issues a Freefall Lifeboat qualification certificate.

Taking Command of a Freefall Lifeboat:

Training in leadership and decision-making during lifeboat launch and emergency situations.

Freefall Lifeboat Engine Operation:

Understanding the functionality of the lifeboat engine and its accessories, including starting, maneuvering, and post-launch operation.

Launch Procedures and Safety Protocols:

Safe launching techniques for Freefall Lifeboats, with an emphasis on emergency response.

Survivor Management:

Techniques for managing survivors and maintaining safety in lifeboats after abandoning ship.

Post-Launch Lifeboat Management:

Securing the lifeboat, ensuring stability, and addressing any immediate issues after launch.

Practical Simulator Exercises:

Hands-on practice using a Freefall Lifeboat simulator to apply learned skills in realistic scenarios.
