Offshore Crane Operator Combined Stage 1 and Stage 2

By obtaining a Maersk Training Offshore Crane Operator certificate, course participants will have a global understanding of their responsibilities as crane operators giving them the flexibility which accompanies a globally recognizable certification. The course consists of both theoretical and practical modules which covers topics such as: Understanding the roles and responsibilities of an OCO, and the safety implications attached to this role.

Introduction to crane operation terminology, hand signals and radio communication protocols. Identification and explanation of relevant legislation. Introduction to typical crane maintenance and inspection requirements. Understanding the main crane controls, safety devices, working limitations, associated hazards and safe work practices of an OCO. Practical operational training following a basic lifting plan via an offshore crane simulator.

Assessment

At the end of the course the participants will complete a theory test, and a practical test.

Prerequisites

3 months offshore experience working on deck


The aim of this course is to provide course participants who have little, or no previous experience in crane operations with advanced knowledge and the skills required of an Offshore Crane Operator.
