In 2007 Maersk Training extended its training portfolio with two mobile simulators built inside 40’ containers called CraneSIM. These were specially developed for training Ship-to-Shore (STS) and Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) crane operators. The concept took training to where it was needed and courses have been conducted on quays and in terminals worldwide.  Later a laptop simulator was developed for recruitment purposes in order to assess candidates before commencing the training programme. AssessSIM has proved to be a great tool, especially in connection with starting up new terminals where there the number of applicants with no experience of the industry is considerable and need to be screened.

Crane Operation’s latest project was the development of a standardized training programme for APM Terminals Africa-Middle East and India (AMI) region.
