Description
This course teaches you the skills you need to escape a submerged helicopter. It is a certificated one-day course which equips the participant with basic techniques for under water escape procedure. It is a life-saving knowledge which can only be gained in a controlled environment.
Purpose
This course is designed to familiarise personnel with the correct safety procedures, and equipment used in helicopters for the offshore industry. It also teaches the correct procedures for approaching, boarding & disembarking helicopters. Different models of helicopters have different safety features and this course will make trainees aware of the different helicopters’ safety features and all aspects of safety before flying.
Contents
- Procedures for evacuation from a ditched helicopter and how to use a life raft
- EBS training (Emergency Breathing System)
- How to use a survival suit and a helicopter life jacket
- Understand the necessity of / and how to take up BRACE position
- Initiate Pre-ditching controls
- Helicopter equipment
Objective
- Undertake helicopter evacuation and under water escape training
- To gain the required level of understanding and awareness of emergency response to helicopter emergencies that may occur during boarding, travelling to and from Offshore Units and disembarking
