Purpose
The AYS associated Office Ergonomics Awareness course is designed to help delegates feel more comfortable and proficient while using their computer. The course also advises of how to reduce the risk of experiencing painful and disabling injuries or disorders such as RSI. This short course covers safe desk working and explains the HSE guidelines.
Content
The syllabus consists of 8 modules:
- Module 1 - Safe desk working
- Module 2 - Principles of ergonomics
- Module 3 - HSE guidelines
- Module 4 - Basic manual handling
- Module 5 – Posture
- Module 6 - Your equipment
- Module 7 - DSE checklist (VDU HSE)
- Display screens
- Keyboards
- Mouse / trackball
- Software
- Furniture
- Environment
- Module 8 - Stress reducers
Objectives
To enable delegates to be able to work efficiently and safely at their desk as part of their competency to work.
Admission Requirements
Delegates who wish to understand good ergonomics in the workplace.

Participants
This course requires a minimum of 4 delegates, and a maximum of 10 delegates.
