  • Measuring element, Measured Value, Desired Value, Errors, means to eliminate the Errors, Function of Controller
  • Open Loop System & Closed Loop Control System
  • Proportional Control, Integral Control, Derivative Control & P-I-D Control
  • Instrumentation: Temperature measurement, Pressure measurement, Level measurement, Flow measurement and others
  • Pneumatic Transmitter, Pneumatic Controller, methods of determining the controller settings, malfunction and trouble shooting of controllers
  • Simulation exercises on PID controllers showing the effect of setting variations and methods of determining controller settings
  • Yamatake-Honeywell controller components, operation, maintenance and calibration
  • Factors influencing control action & Tuning of P-I-D controllers
  • Boiler water level Controller – Single / Two / Three element
  • Boiler Combustion Control
  • Programmable Logic Controller, detailed study of the Architecture of the PLC and the memory organization in PLC
  • The Mitsubishi Programmable controller
  • Practical exercises on the PLC
  • Troubleshooting techniques in PLC
  • Open Forum and Feedback session


Objectives

Upon completion of the course the participant will have better understanding in:

  • Concepts of automatic control
  • Working and maintenance of temperature, pressure, flow, level and other measuring equipment
  • Operation and maintenance of various types of Transmitters, Controllers, Actuators, Valve Positioners and control valves with their characteristics
  • Boiler controllers – Water level & Air/Fuel combustion controller
  • Operation, maintenance & calibration of the Automatic Controller
  • Operation & maintenance aspects of the Programmable Logic Controller
